Kenyataan Media Menteri Kerja Raya Berhubung KIDEX

  1. The concession company, Kidex Sdn Bhd, need to display information on the development and do public engagement to get feedback from the affected areas before progressing with the expressway project.
  2. The KIDEX Expressway Concession Agreement was signed on the 15th of November 2013. The Selangor State Economy Council approved the proposed expressway on 23rd of February 2012.
  3. The expressway, which is 26.1km long, will connect Kinrara and Damansara and will alleviate the traffic congestion in Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) as well as reduce travelling time and provide a convenient and comfortable drive to users.
  4. The alignment of KIDEX will reduced traffice congestion at key local roads, namely Jalan Damansara, Jalan Semangat, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Barat, Jalan Penchala and Jalan Templer.
  5. Traffic congestion in all existing key entry/exit points within Petaling Jaya will be relieved, hence smooth flow traffic and will also reduce travel time in and out of Petaling Jaya for the PJ residents.
  6. The alignment is also an alternative access for PJ residents to Damansara, Puchong and Putrajaya.
  7. Typically travelling from Damansara to Puchong using the existing LDP will take up to 45 minutes. With KIDEX, travelling time from Damansara to Kinrara will reduce by 50%. Traffic on local roads such as Jalan Semangat, Jalan Penchala and Jalan Templer is expected to reduce by up to 28%.
  8. The KIDEX highway when completed, will be providing direct connection to Future suchy as MRT at Bandar Utama and Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI); Putra LRT at Taman Jaya and Asia Jaya; BRT at Federal Highway Route II; Star LRT at Bukit Jalil and possible connection at KTM Station at Taman Dato' Harun.
  9. Public Opinion Survey are being undertaken as part of Concession Agreement requirement. Respondents involved is the survey were selected within affected zones in Damansara, Petaling Jaya and Kinrara.
  10. Public display has been conducted at both Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) and Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) for one month to provide information on the project.
  11. Town Hall Meeting also has been conducted at MPSJ ont he 29th of March to provide detailed information on the said project.
  12. Department of Environment approved the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report submitted by the company. The company had fulfilled the requirement under section 34A (2) Environmental Quality Act 1974, with conditions including approval from state government and respective government departments before project is implemented. The said report was also forwarded to DOE Selangor.
  13. The concession company, KIDEX Sdn. Bhd. has 12 months from the signing of the Concession Agreement to fulfill certain conditions as stipulated in the Concession Agreement. Among the conditions the company has to fulfill are to show that is has the financial capability to construct the expressway and is required to get public feedback by conducting a public opinion survey on the proposed expressway.
  14. The approval to begin construction will only be given once the Federal Government is satisfied that all the conditions have been fulfilled by KIDEX Sdn. Bhd. The Ministry of Works will be closely monitoring the progress of the matter and all parties are advised to continue their consultations and discussions in an objective manner.
