In #PRKPengkalanKubor , PAS wants info ministry billboards on oil royalty removed

PAS is asking the Communications and Multimedia Ministry to take down the billboards accusing the Islamist party of lying over Kelantan's oil royalty claim, a topic rival camps are capitalising on ahead of this week's Pengkalan Kubor by-election here.

Party vice president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said PAS campaign workers spotted several billboards allegedly bearing the ministry's logo raised throughout the constituency, which contained messages countering the Kelantan government's ongoing legal battle for oil royalty from Putrajaya.
The PAS leader revealed that the Elections Commission (EC) also issued a directive for the billboards to be taken down.
"So please, I request that the billboards be brought down," Tuan Ibrahim said during the party's daily media briefing here.
Oil royalty has become a key issue in the campaigning trail of both camps.
PAS in its ceramah events has tried to sway voters against retaining Barisan Nasional (BN) in the seat, by pointing to the federal government's refusal to pay the state royalty for the oil it claimed is extracted off its shores.
BN, in turn, has countered the accusations by insisting that Kelantan has no standing to claim for royalty as the oil was derived from outside its waters.
It also used the RM12 billion money given to the Kelantan PAS government as "good-will money" annually as a sign of Umno's generosity and sincerity in safeguarding the welfare of the Kelantanese people.
The Pengkalan Kubor by-election is called following the death of Umno incumbent Datuk Noor Zahidi, who was the assemblyman for three terms.
The by-election will see a three-cornered contest between Umno's Mat Razi Mat Ail, PAS's Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
Noor Zahidi had retained the seat in the general election held last year with a majority of 1,736 votes, beating Saharun Ibrahim of PKR and Izat Bukhari.
Polling will be conducted this Thursday, September 25.
