A total of 105 out of 109 police personnel cast their votes in early voting for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election on Sunday.

Election Commission secretary Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said that early voter turnout was 96.3% and that only four voters, who are said to be outstation, failed to cast their votes.
“I am very satisfied with the overall turnout and that it went smoothly without any untoward incidents,” he said.
The police personnel, who were based in the Pengkalan Kubor district started to cast their votes at the district police station as early as 8.20am Sunday morning.
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim in an earlier interview said he had ordered his men to cast their votes early so that they could get back to work to maintain peace and order.
The 109 police personnel are part of the 500 strong policemen who are on duty throughout the by-election.
The Pengkalan Kubor by-election on Sept 25 is a three-cornered fight between Mat Razi, Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim of PAS and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
It is being held following the death of Barisan's three-term assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar on Aug 20 due to cancer.
Noor Zahidi had retained the seat in the general election held last year with a majority of 1,736 votes, beating Saharun Ibrahim of PKR and Izat Bukhary.
