#PRKPengkalanKubor by-election: Nik Aziz out and campaigning despite ailing health

PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat (pic) has been taking an active role in campaigning for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election despite his ailing health.
Throughout the fortnight, the 83-year-old has been meeting voters on the ground and even paid a visit to Buddhist temples in Pengkalan Kubor.
On Friday night, the former Kelantan mentri besar spoke in a crowded ceramah of about 800 people in the PAS area of Kg Genting, encouraging them to come out to vote on Sept 25.
“On polling day, we are no longer fishermen, we are no longer officers, and we are no longer doctors.
“We are all voters,” he said.
Nik Aziz had also attended the by-election’s nomination day on Sept 13 although he left early after feeling unwell due to the heat.
"If the doctor knows I'm here, I would get a scolding but that is my responsibility.
After all, everyone who lives will pass away eventually." he said as he concluded Friday’s ceramah.
Nik Aziz's participation in the Pengkalan Kubor by-election is a big boost to PAS, who have so far kept to a more silent campaigning style.
An absence of many PAS leaders have also been attributed to the party's muktamar, which ran from Sept 18 to 20 in Johor.
The Pengkalan Kubor by-election on Sept 25 is a three-cornered fight between Mat Razi, Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim of PAS and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
It is being held following the death of Barisan's three-term assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar on Aug 20.
Noor Zahidi had retained the seat in the general election held last year with a majority of 1,736 votes, beating Saharun Ibrahim of PKR and Izat Bukhary.
