#PRKPengkalanKubor : Stop blaming us for the lack of development, says Muhyiddin

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has called on the PAS-led state government to stop blaming the federal government for failing to bring development to Kelantan.
“We expected them to raise this at their ceramah during the by-election campaign here.
“PAS should stop hurling accusations that BN failed to bring development to the state,” he told reporters when met at the Kampung Simpangan religious school here today.
Muhyiddin said as the ruling state government, PAS must carry a wider responsibility in terms of developing the state.
“As far as federal projects are concerned, we will play our part.
“If the state government needs federal allocations to tackle its flooding woes, then it must apply for it … we will give due consideration.”
He also stressed that BN did not need to back out from the Pengkalan Kubor by-election despite being dominated by PAS in the Tumpat parliamentary constituency and the three surrounding state seats.
“This election and campaigning by BN is a yardstick for the federal government to see how the people here have responded to its policies in the state.
“We acknowledge that we are underdogs in the state and will treat ourselves likewise in this by-election.”
Muhyiddin was responding to criticism from PAS over the federal government’s flood mitigation project along Jalan Kasban Sungai Golok which had failed to prevent floods from occurring in the state constituency.
Stating that the matter would be brought up in the campaign for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election recently, Kelantan PAS deputy secretary-general Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah had  said the RM3 million project was a failure as it did not solve the flood problem of the villagers.
Wan Abdul Rahim, who is also PAS election director for the by-election, claimed that floodwaters were trapped in three villages after heavy rain.
“After the floods, the village would appear to be in a pond for months at a time as the water cannot be drained out due to the lack of outlets.”
The Tumpat flood mitigation project was implemented to reduce the risk of floods, but it experienced a technical problem as the land in Thailand was higher than the project.
During the visit, which is part of the BN campaign for the by-election, Muhyiddin gave RM500,000 to the Kampung Simpangan mosque, which is situated beside the school. The allocation is to upgrade the mosque.
The by-election was called after BN incumbent Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar passed away on Aug 20. In the 13th general election, Noor Zahidi beat PKR’s Shaharun Ibrahim (PKR) and Izat Bukhary by a majority of 1,736 votes.
Polling is on Sept 25.
